We are going to the beach

Well, we actually are at the beach. Our good friends have a beach house in Gulfport, Mississippi. We haven’s seen them for two years, so this was a trip we all looked forward to. We booked the trip a whole year ago for this week. And the day we got here, so did Tropical Storm Cristobal. There were high winds, up to 50 mph gusts, lots of rain, and it was a little frightening. We arrived on Sunday, and sat in the beach house until Monday evening. The rain stopped for a bit and we were able to get to the beach. *I’m from south Louisiana, so I am well aware of the dangers of storms and hurricanes. Had the storm been predicted to be worse, we would have stayed somewhere else. We would never put our kids lives in danger.*

As with any storm, it had pulled lots of debris onto the beach. But there were also lots of little birds that had been dragged by the waves from the coast of Louisiana. We found several that appeared to be hurt, but I think they were more shocked from the waves than anything. There were several nests of eggs among the debris. We even found two dead young pelicans. We didn’t stay long on the beach that evening. The next morning, our friend had gone out to see the status, and through the previous night, the waves continued to pull more marsh grass ashore, along with lots of dead rats. The local government decided to close the beach for cleaning. So we just hung around the beach house the rest of that day.

By the afternoon of Wednesday, we decided we had to find somewhere to go. The kids were becoming restless (our 3 plus their 3), and we didn’t drive 14 hours to sit at the beach house. The husbands did find a spot about 10 miles down the road, near Jones Park, and we all packed up and went. We all went back the next day, and spent 7 hours there. Another couple and their 3 kids joined us. It was a blast! So now it’s Friday, and all the kids are still asleep because of the sun and playing hard yesterday. I’m not sure of the plans for today yet, but i imagine it will be much like yesterday. Because it’s supposed to be beautiful, and why waste the beauty God has given us.

Lack of Friends

Moving is hard. If you never have, it’s not something to take lightly. I haven’t moved nearly as many times as some people, but I have lived...
