How Long Do We Have? (2 Chronicles 34)

2 Chronicles 34:31 The king stood by the column and made a covenant in the presence of the LORD to follow the LORD and to observe his commandments, statutes, and decrees with his whole heart and soul, carrying out the words of the covenant written in this book.

Anon only ruled for two years, but in those two years he did many terrible and evil things. His father Manasseh began his rule as one of the most wicked kings ever, so maybe Anon saw those things and kept them in his heart. But even though Manasseh turned his life around and humbled himself before the Lord, Anon did not follow the right path. Anon was killed and his son, Josiah, was made king. Josiah tried to restore and rebuild God’s temple from the beginning. It is possible that Josiah saw Manasseh’s change of heart and knew this to be right. It is impressive that Josiah did not follow his father’s lead. Maybe he realized the death (spiritual and physical) that would follow if he chose to not turn his people to God?

Josiah was given the Book of the Law given by Moses while he was rebuilding the temple, and realized all the horrible things the people had been doing against God’s given words. The prophetess told Josiah that the wrath of the Lord would be held back as long as Josiah lived because he humbled himself and repented with tears. But the Lord knew the people of Judah were fickle, and would change their hearts with each new leader, following their leaders path. So the wrath would indeed happen once Josiah died.

As our world is doing many horrible things against God’s word, we need to humble ourselves before the Lord. We need to clean our conscious and truly live as he called us to live. His wrath is coming, and we need to have ourselves straight before it gets here. I will not wait for tomorrow to do what should be done today. I will not be caught sleeping. I will observe the commandments and Word of God with my whole heart and soul. I will pray for the souls of those who do not know his word and I will pray for those who choose to not know it. We don’t know how long we have before God’s judgement comes upon us. But it’s best if we don’t wait to find out.

Lack of Friends

Moving is hard. If you never have, it’s not something to take lightly. I haven’t moved nearly as many times as some people, but I have lived...
